Obama Administration Seeks to Ignore Yet Another Law

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius

Several weeks ago I wrote about the Obama Administration’s petulance when it came to immigration issues.  In short, the President and his liberal allies have mounted an assault on the fundamental understanding of how our system of government works.  Their method?  If the people and their elected representatives stand in their way, they will accomplish their goals by executive or administrative fiat.  Because the ends justify the means, it is perfectly acceptable.

The President and his ilk have expanded their assualt into another arena:  welfare reform.  In a recent memo from the Department of Health and Human Services, the suggestion was made that states could start to drop the employment provision in the well received 1996 law reforming welfare.  It contains provisions requiring people to, among other things, be actively looking for work in order to obtain welfare benefits.

The HHS memo notified states that they could seek a waiver of the strict work requirements in the law and, as Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio stated, completely destroys the basis on which the wildly successful welfare reform plan was based.

Another example of Obama’s soft tyranny.  It’s time for America to wake up and understand what is truly going on.  This November’s election is the most important in our history.
